Traveling to Costa Rica as a tourist destination

Travel to Costa Rica... A tourist destination with no filters

Are you undecided about where you want to spend your next vacation? Certainly there are many tourist destinations, but if you are interested in resting and experiencing nature, Costa Rica** is definitely the place.

In the last few decades Costa Rica has become a tourist destination preferred by tourists interested in bird watching and nature, the adventure tourism fans, and those who want to get away from the big cities and live a few days immersed in a natural paradise. The reason is very simple: with a total area of only 51,100 km2, Costa Rica contains 6% of the world's biodiversity... That is, if nature is your thing, this is definitely the place for you!

Flora and fauna like you've never seen before.

It is said that walking through the streets of Florence, in Italy, is like being in a museum, because in every corner you breathe art... In Costa Rica we could say the same when it comes to nature. It doesn't matter if you are in the countryside or in the city. Wherever you look, you will find huge mountains, exotic plants, coffee plantations, waterfalls... In short, it is difficult to find a corner of Costa Rica where you do not experience that coexistence with Mother Nature. That is why it is not strange to hear tourists say in amazement: "It's incredible, I've never seen so many shades of green!".

In addition, Costa Rica maintains 26% of the national territory protected in the form of natural reserves, national parksand wildlife refuges. It has 1300 species of plants, most of them native, and about 2.8% of the world's orchids! In addition, you will be able to see up close all kinds of birds (more than 900 registered species), hundreds of species of mammals, including sloths and anteaters, monkeys, coyotes, jaguars, ocelots, deer, tapirs, among others; and more than 190 species of frogs, just to mention a few groups, coexisting peacefully with the landscape and its visitors.

Truly each area you visit during your trip will offer you a different and exuberant scenery.

A tourist destination between two oceans, what more could you ask for?

In this beautiful natural scenery, beaches are a must-see attraction. Costa Rica has 1,288 kilometers of coastline on the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean. In Guanacaste and the Central Pacific, you can find beaches with white or golden sand, clear waters, and surrounded by vegetation. Some of the most famous beaches include Manuel Antonio Beaches in Quepos, and Tamarindo, Flamingo, and Conchal Beach in Guanacaste; just to name a few. With over 600 beaches to choose from, the possibilities are endless.

The beaches in the South Pacific are wilder, with dark sand and open seas, but equally attractive. Examples include Bahia Ballena and Playa Ventanas. In the Caribbean, you will find the most exotic beaches, surrounded by palm trees, with white sands and turquoise waters. Punta Uva, located on the Atlantic Coast, is a favorite among many. Additionally, there are some beaches that offer a wonderful spectacle of the nesting and hatching of sea turtles, year after year; such as Tortuguero and Cahuita.

And we can’t leave out volcanoes!

Costa Rica is a land of volcanoes, some of which are still active, providing an amazing spectacle every so often. The Irazú volcano, standing at 3,432 meters high, gives the impression of a moon landing, given its arid and inhospitable landscape. The Poás volcano, at 2,708 meters, boasts a huge crater over 1.5 km in diameter, as well as the Botos lagoon, formed by rainwater and surrounded by vegetation. And, of course, the Arenal Volcano, with its majestic and classic conical shape, stands out from the landscape and gives life to dozens of hot spring spas in the surrounding area.
