Adventure Travel in Costa Rica

Adventure Travel? Definitely in Costa Rica!

Over the years, Costa Rica - a little gem in the heart of Central America - has become a magnet for tourists seeking travel experiences filled with fun, adrenaline, and nature. Adventure tourism is one of the main attractions that draws risk and extreme sports enthusiasts from around the world to Costa Rica.

Adventure Tourism in the Forest: It's Time to Get Your Adrenaline Pumping!

Let's start with canopy tours, also known as ziplining. Canopy tours consist of gliding through the air across suspended cables attached from one tree to another, using platforms, a pulley, and climbing equipment. This eco-friendly sport gives you a privileged view of the forest while enjoying the thrill of speed and the sensation of flying - an experience we recommend you try at least once in your life!

What about descending down the walls of a rock or natural wall using ropes? This is known as rappelling and it is a popular extreme sport in Costa Rica. If you want to add a little more intensity, would you dare to do it in the middle of a waterfall? Yes, this sport is also practiced in Costa Rica, and it is known as Canyoning or Torrentismo. It consists of practicing rappelling in the middle of high waterfalls, where you not only feel the thrill of the descent, but also the force of the water falling while you do it. Often, this type of sport is combined with walks through the forest, some stretches of canopy, and then descending while practicing canyoning. It is undoubtedly a very different way to have an extreme adventure while enjoying nature to the fullest.

Immersing Ourselves in the Natural Experience!

But we can not only practice adventure tourism in the forest. Some of the most impressive rivers in Costa Rica offer you the opportunity to live one of our favorite natural experiences: river rafting. It is amazing to see the jungle and the plains from a riverbed. This trip takes you through high canyons, agricultural areas, and jungle corners. And of course, every once in a while, you get a shot of adrenaline when the river decides to throw you through the rapids that form in its waters. A fun and exciting natural experience at the same time!

And if water sports are your thing, in Costa Rica you have plenty of options to practice them. This is a famous tourist destination for surfing in different internationally recognized beaches, such as Playa Hermosa, Playa Pavones, Roca Bruja, Playa Grande or Salsa Brava, just to name a few. Not in vain, many professional surfers come year after year to our country to surf!

If diving is your thing, you will also find in our seas ideal places to practice it, either as a beginner or professional, as there is something for all levels. Among the best known places to dive are Isla del Caño, Quepos, Playas del Coco, Isla Murciélago and Las Catalinas.
